Our History
Empowered to Empower, Inc. was born out of a vision to transform personal pain into a platform for purpose. Founded by Dr. Sonia L. Davidson, the organization emerged from years of witnessing the silent struggles of women who longed to rebuild their confidence, faith, and sense of worth after hardship. In 2018, luncheons were held to foster fellowship and inspiration. These gatherings have grown exponentially, and attendance has more than double since inception. What began as a passion for mentoring and empowerment grew into a movement of restoration and resilience. Rooted in compassion, faith, and community, Empowered to Empower, Inc. represents the belief that every woman deserves the tools, resources, and support to rise beyond adversity. Our history is one of courage and calling, a journey from surviving to serving, and from isolation to impact.
Our Purpose
At Empowered to Empower, Inc. our purpose is to help women and families heal, rebuild, and thrive through programs that foster self-worth, education, and empowerment. We exist to bridge the gap between struggle and strength by offering mentorship, personal development workshops, professional development training sessions, and faith-based support that equip individuals to reclaim their purpose and power. We meet a critical need in our communities, providing not just temporary aid, but long-term empowerment that breaks cycles of dependency and despair. Through practical resources, compassionate guidance, and collective action, Empowered to Empower, Inc. helps transform pain into progress and empowers every participant to rise with confidence, clarity, and hope one step at a time.
Our Impact
The heart of Empowered to Empower has always been found in service, showing up where help and hope are needed most. Long before our formal establishment as a nonprofit, our team quietly met needs through acts of kindness that made a lasting difference: delivering dinners to families in crisis, providing essential supplies to those struggling, and celebrating the courage of cancer survivors who embody strength and perseverance. What began as word-of-mouth outreach grew into a movement of organized compassion, leading to the official formation of Empowered to Empower, Inc. Today, our impact continues to expand as we formalize our systems and partnerships, ensuring that every act of giving becomes part of a sustainable cycle of empowerment that uplifts hearts, restores dignity, and strengthens communities.
Our Founder
Dr. Sonia L. Davidson is an educator, empowerment coach, administrator, speaker, and visionary leader whose life’s work centers on helping others transform pain into purpose. As the Founder and President of Empowered to Empower, she brings nearly 29 years of experience in higher education, leadership development, and personal transformation to the organization’s mission of uplifting women and communities in need. Her broader body of work in the development of empowerment frameworks, paired faith-driven leadership and unwavering compassion, have guided countless women to reclaim their voices, rebuild their lives, and rise above adversity. With a rare blend of academic rigor, creative vision, and heartfelt purpose, Dr. Davidson leads Empowered to Empower with integrity and hope, championing a global movement of transformation, service, and empowerment.

Shelly believes empowerment begins with self-awareness and is sustained through mentorship, education, and community support.
